The genesis of the Sootheran Blog developed out of necessity, though with little hesitation, as a result of a project for LIS558.
I am currently enrolled in the Master's in Library and Information Science degree program at the University of Southern Mississippi (www.usm.edu). The project referenced above provided the choice to create a blog for Internet Resources and Applications (LIS558), an elective toward my degree.
This class deals with using social networking tools to bolster the library in carrying out its mission, providing services for its patronage, and building rapport with its community. I strongly recommend this course for any current or future librarian to learn how to help the library extend its reach through social networking.
